- Can someone please tell me the version and location of the latest Trumpet
- Newsreader? I am having trouble with the fetch-mail function (it gives my
- password to the pop3 server, logs in, and then hangs while fetching mail). I
- was hoping a newer version would help. I was using Eudora with no problem at
- all, but would like to get Trumpet to do the job. (Note: I am not trying to
- use them simultaneously).
-
- Thanks for your time - email or post your reply.

- I don't know -- how does about 6kbps sound on a 28.8 connection, clocked at
- 115kbps sound? :-)
-
- Hmm... I take it that's for uncompressed files.
-
- Mosaic is USABLE over these links.
-
- But since I can't afford a 28.8K modem, it really doesn't matter which
- WinSock I use with Mosaic. :(

- Subject: RE: XWINDEMO PROBLEMS
-
- I have x windemo and it works great ( a small problem but we'll get to that
- later). I run XDCMP and have no problems running any of the display managers
- including OpenLook (which I think is the best) I'm using Novell winsock, and
- Intel EtherExpress 16 ethernet card. This is connected to the local Novell
- 3.11 lan via twisted pair cable and from there it is connected to the Unix
- mainframe (fibre-optic lnks between buildings). I had OpenLook working great
- for about 2 months and then I upgraded my ATI Ultra card to the latest drivers
- (Feb 94 ver.) Now I can't get OpenLook to work. I login and the first message
- box comes up and then the program seems to reset?? I can't figure it out. The
- worst thing is that I re-installed the old version of the Mach8 driver and the
- problem still persists. I can run the other display managers that I know of
- (olm, tvtwm etc) but I can't seem to customize them so that they keep the same
- attributes, that's why I went with OpenLook.
- I've played around with the xwindemo setting and have found these to work for
- me:
-
- set Single Window Mode = ON
- set Panning = OFF
- set Enable Screen:0.0 = OFF
- add all login hosts to Xhost menu with a leading +
- eg. +ccu.umanitoba.ca
-
- And thats it, Ifa anyone can tell me what I can do to get OpenLook to work
- with this new driver I'd be veeery happy.

-
-
- My Mosaic.ini has:
-
- [Viewers]
- type8="audio/basic"
- audio/basic="p:\mosaic\wplany.exe %ls"
-
- [Suffixes]
- audio/basic=.au,.AU,.aud,.AUD
-
-
- In my case, the p: drive is a LAN Manager server. I don't see why the
- difference between audio/au and audio/basic would make a difference, but this
- setup works for me.
-
-
- Hope this helps.
